Newspapers and magazines including The Sunday Times and The Telegraph have published over 250 of Paul’s stories. He has has held editorial positions on four titles. Paul is currently the Equipment Editor for Geographical, the magazine of the Royal Geographical Society.

Paul’s travel articles have ranged from an encounter with an 85 year old Himalayan silversmith to a trip to another planet for £300.

In addition to his adventure and environmental stories, Paul has interviewed dozens of the leading names in the outdoors, including Reinhold Messner, Yvon Chouinard and Chris Bonington.

In 2000, Paul was commissioned by the British Mountaineering Council to write ‘The Mountain Traveller’s Handbook’, a new title which subsequently received an award at the U.S. National Outdoor Book Awards.

Wanderlust magazine described it as “A mine of useful information,” whilst Trail magazine wrote, “This book should be the launchpad of any overseas adventure.”

Paul is also a contributor to several other books, including the Royal Geographical Society’s ‘Expedition Handbook’, Lonely Planet’s ‘Trekking In the Indian Himalaya’ Cadogan Guides' 'Bugs, Bites & Bowels', and the AA’s 'Extreme Places'.
