A finalist in the BBC’s nationwide search for new television experts (which attracted 2500 applicants), Paul has appeared on numerous BBC national television news programmes, as well as on ITV, Channel 4, ITN, Carlton and Sky. He has been interviewed by George Alagiah, John Humphrys, Jeremy Paxman and Johnny Vaughan.

Paul has also been interviewed on more than 50 radio programmes, including twice by satellite ’phone during an expedition to a previously unexplored mountain range by James Naughtie for BBC Radio 4’s flagship programme, ‘Today’. He has also been interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s ‘PM’ and ‘Midweek’ programmes, and on BBC Radio 5 Live and the BBC World Service.

The Telegraph, The Guardian, The Mirror and The Baghdad Times have all covered Paul’s multifarious expeditions. Paul has also been featured in The Sunday Times’ popular ‘Life In The Day’ column.

WXPN radio interview about Everest

In part 1, Paul explains his original motivations for climbing Everest, the 1996 ‘Into Thin Air’ disaster, and why he returned to the mountain after a hiatus of eight years.
