carbon offsetting

Offsetting carbon emissions from air travel and private transport (such as cars & taxis) is not a perfect solution (and there are compelling arguments against the value of doing so).

That said, if I decide to fly or drive then paying a financial penalty, and seeing that money have a positive effect on the environment, seems to me to be better than doing nothing.
